'm pam cook. time now 6:30. an early morning fire started in a san pablo apartment after a woman fell asleep while cooking. ktvu channel 2 reporter allie rasmus joins us now with why it was such a close call for this woman and her little baby girl. allie. >> reporter: well, this fire started in the hill top apartment building complex right here behind us in san pablo. now earlier we had been set up right outside right next to where this apartment fire started, but earlier this morning some of the managers out here made us move off of the property. before we left our cameras did go inside the apartment unit where this fire happened. inside you can see a lot of heavy smoke damage in the kitchen and the living rooms. firefighters say the woman who lived here fell asleep with a pot on the stove and that's what sparked this fire around 2:00 a.m. the smoke triggered the apartment's sprinkler system and firefighters say that may have saved the tenants lives. but also reported that the interior smoke detector was not sounding when they busted open the front door and went into the apartment. >

. it is monday july 11th. i'm dave clark. >>> good morning. i'm pam cook. time now 6:30. >>> well, in the news right now a suspicious soda drink is being tested by the authorities this morning after a 14-year- old girl died and three others became ill during a weekend sleepover. ktvu's allie rasmus here now to tell us what some of the teenagers said about this soda before that teenager died. allie. >> reporter: well, dave, the four girls who were at this sleepover told sonoma county sheriffs investigators that they had passed around the soda that they said tasted strange. the sonoma county sheriff's office says that soda did have an unknown substance in it. now they want to figure out exactly what it was and if it may have caused the death of this 14-year-old girl. the sheriff's office explained that this happened some time saturday night, early sunday morning just over the weekend. the teens got together for a sleepover. at some point in the night all four girls were violently ill and throwing up after drinking the soda. the parents at first thought it was just food poisoning but sunday morni

that fishing boat accident in mexico may be'sed for san ramon as we speak. >> pam cook is in our newsroom now. she knows the very latest on what happened. >> we understand that family members of the men who went on the fishing trip set up a chan post in san ramon. that's because many of them parked their cars at one house an left for mexico to the the we have video taken by the mexican navy, moments before they were rescued. you can see they are ebbs hostaged. they had to be carry -- exhausted an they had to be carried. their fishing boat capsized in a sudden and violet storm on sunday -- sunday. this man is one of the survivers. >> i'm still very hopeful as well as the dash ka he as well as the other people here -- i'm still very hopeful as well. i was in the water for 16 hours. there's still some hope. >> for many of the survivors, in the water, as he say, 16 hours. they've stayed in mexico waiting for word on the other seven men still missing. investigators there tell the families a they weren't gonna continue the search. >>> done lee of ran ramon of dublin are mon the men still missing. w
